U.S. stock index futures edged up slightly Thursday, pointing to a higher open amid a number of cost-cutting moves from shipping giant FedEx Corp. (FDX), as investors looked past downbeat expectations from Ingersoll-Rand (IR) and Alliant Energy Corp. (LNT).
